HYBRID VIGOR & OTHER HEALTH ISSUES OF PUREBREDS VS MIXED BREED
MIXED BRED DOGS : have good genetic diversity, i.e. their genes are unrelated and in this case a Pure Bred English Lab and Standard or Small Poodle, which tends to promote overall health and vigor. Because their genes are usually unrelated, the chances are good that the parents of a mixed breed puppy did not both have the same defective genes. It is the pairing up of the same defective genes that causes some of the worst health problems.
PUREBRED DOGS TODAY : have been over bred and line bred and apparent health problems like below have plagued our four legged friend.
Purebreds are prone to health problems
Bone and joint disorders that cause lameness Eye diseases that cause blindness Sudden heart disease that causes early death Epilepsy/seizures Immune system diseases Neurological diseases Skin diseases Bleeding disorders Cancers and tumors Over 300 genetic health defects have been documented in dogs, and in many purebreds, the incidence of defects is extremely high. Reasons for this include:
A limited and closed gene pool. Most breeds were built on relatively few founding dogs, so the same sets of genes have been reproduced over and over since the breed began. Registries such as the AKC require that all future offspring come from the mating of dogs registered with their club. This restriction eliminates the vast majority of other dogs that would otherwise be available for breeding.
We may never see Labradoodles AKC and alot of US Labradoodle Breeders do not care, we belong to our own organizational clubs and Breeding registry in order to document our dogs and their successful testing and register. As long as we track our dogs bred and limit buyers from breeding our pups we can create a wonderful sound Mix breed. Lab & Poodle
Please buy from an ethical Labradoodle breeder, that knows their dogs, has great reputation and cares about what they are doing, not someone breeding their neighbors Lab to any Poodle. As in any new venture, there will be backyard breeders trying to make a buck. However, a Good Ethical Breeder will supply you with references and back up their breeding with sound contract.
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE AUSTRALIAN BRED LABRADOODLE AND THE AMERICAN BRED LABRADOODLE :
On My Welcome page you will find Sultan's picture, wearing Googles , he was the First True Labradoodle to ever come to US from Australia , he is a 50 % Lab and 50 % Poodle.
Every breeder has a certain criteria of what they will breed and how they will accomplish their breeding lines. *
PLEASE CHHOSE YOUR BREEDER WISELY AND ASK ALL THE QUESTIONS NECESSARY
